An interactive installation, where animated RSS feeds streaming from the ceiling create light. This light moves and shifts, tracking the movement of a body as it walks through a field of steel "wheat" on the floor below.
This project was inspired by the wheat fields surrounding my home town of Moscow, Idaho. During the late summer harvest, combines kick up dust particles that hang in the air and filter sunlight as it comes through clouds, creating the streaming effect we used to call "jesus-light."
Technologies used:
- Flash/Actionscript 2.0
- RSS
- IPAC controller
- Wood, piano wire, welding rod
This is the RSS feed I created for the project - a web-wide gathering of all blog entries that have to do with the sun, sunshine, or frolicking. It was created using Technorati, and converted to RSS 2.0 with Feedburner. I ran the feed through Flash using the Actionscript 2.0 RSS Parser Package developed by Cybozu Labs.
